Dr Ahmad Mardzuki Ibrahim is a Consultant General & Gastro Intestinal Surgeon at KPJ Pahang Specialist Hospital (KPJ), Kuantan Pahang since August 2016 to-date.
Prior to joining KPJ Pahang Specialist Hospital, Dr Ahmad Mardzuki has had an outstanding mileage in his medical carrier. He has contributed his services at various departments namely Emergency Department, Outpatient Department, Medical Department, General Surgery Department, Urology Department, Plastic Surgery Department, Anaesthetic Department, Orthopedic Department, Neurosurgery Department, Pediatric Medical and Pediatric Surgery Department before continued his interest in General Surgery.
He has served at various institutions, among others are Hospital Malacca, Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) Kuala Terenggganu, Hospital University Science of Malaysia (HUSM), Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab Kota Bharu (Kelantan), Hospital Sibu (Sarawak), Hospital Bintulu (Sarawak), Hospital Umum Kuching (Sarawak) and Darul makmur Medical Centre (DMMC) respectively.
Dr Ahmad Mardzuki acquired his Bachelor Degree of Medicine (MD) from University of Leuven, Belgium in the year of 1991, Master in Surgery from Malaysia University of Science (USM) in the year of 2000, and thereafter commenced his career as a General Surgeon Specialist. Driven by his interest and passion, he then pursued to further his career in Sub-Speciality ‘Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgery (Upper GI Surgery)’ and being awarded ‘Fellowship’ from Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide (Australia) and Malaysia Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2006.
He was one of the pioneers in developing the ‘Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery’ discipline across Malaysia. As a consequence to such efforts, he was appointed to the position as National Chairman for ‘Upper GI Fellowship Training Committee’ by MOH, until he retired from the government services in 2014.
He has also been appointed as the Honorary Lecturer in Medicine by Science University of Malaysia (USM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UNISZA) and University College Sedaya International (UCSI), where his responsibilities was to educate and supervise medical doctors for post-graduate specialists and under-graduate students.
Beside his official duties, Dr Ahmad Mardzuki also involved in various community and social works. He has been elected as Committee Member to ‘Malaysian Colorectal Registry’, Committee Member in drafting Tele-injury protocols for MOH, Committee Member to ‘Malaysian Upper GI Surgery’ Association, ‘Board Director Lion’s Club’ Kuala Terengganu, Secretary-General to Malaysia Medical Association (MMA) Terengganu, Committee Member for ‘Organ Donation and Procurement’ Terengganu, Committee Member for ‘Pain as 5th Vital Sign’ MOH/Terengganu, ‘Champion Hospital Information System (HIS)’ HSNZ, Committee Member for ‘Persatuan Pasca Siswazah HSNZ’ and Committee Member for ‘Masjid Bukit Besar Kuala Terengganu’ respectively.
